In earlier days, the Millwood Country Club pool, like those of many rural clubs, was spring fed, had a slight current to it, and was bone-chillingly cold. No more! The club's modern pool is 25-yards long and three lanes wide, with a shallow, wading pool for younger club members.
A recent upgrade to the pool has added over 900 square feet to the deck, while a nearby grassy meadow offers a respite from pool activities, including playground equipment, a beach volleyball court, and a horseshoe pitch. Closer to the clubhouse, grills are available for members to do their own barbecuing, turning a day of swimming into an evening event.
Open to members from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 8 a.m. to dusk, the pool is attentively guarded at peak hours, but members (not including children, unless accompanied by an adult) are also free to swim at their own risk when the pool is open and no guard is available. As with so much else at MCC, the honor system applies for members signing in their pool guests.
