Tennis and Pickleball

Since the 1920s, the sport of tennis has been a mainstay of enjoyment for Millwood Country Club members. Situated just to the south of the clubhouse, the club’s Nova Sports hard court and two Har-Tru tennis courts are open dawn to dusk as the season permits. The MCC Har-Tru courts may also be lit for evening play. In the spring of 2017, the all-weather court will undergo a full renovation.

In keeping with the goal that Millwood Country Club remain a "country casual" retreat, tennis activities operate on a "few-rules-as-possible" principle. Members are obliged by the honor system to sign in their guests, and on the Har-Tru courts, players are expected to drag the courts and roll-brush lines when they have completed their match.

If a member desires private instruction to improve their stroke or strategy, MCC recommends either of its tennis pros.

In 2022, brings the addition of two pickleball courts.  Following in the same tradition as tennis with member participation.

Racket Activities

Millwood Country Club members enjoy a number of both formal and casual events throughout the year. With Memorial, Independence, and Labor Day tournaments, there is ample opportunity to enjoy a competitive match with members and guests. During the season, the club's tennis pros offer Cardio Tennis on Saturday mornings. Traditional holiday racket tournaments run concurrently with golf tournaments and pool-play for families, followed by refreshments and a cookout on the club's expansive porch.

Tennis Potluck is, perhaps, the club's most popular activity. In season, on Monday and Thursday evenings, Member and guest tennis enthusiasts join for casual, yet sporting singles and doubles matches. Everyone brings a dish and a drink, for a relaxing and casual dinner after the matches.
